Niche mass disruption for black control and stax strategies, but the symmetrical effect and five-mana cost make it a risky inclusion even in Commander. You're paying a steep price to hurt yourself nearly as much as your opponents, and decks with better life totals or card advantage engines can weather the effect better than you can. Consider it only if your strategy specifically exploits life loss or permanent sacrifice as a resource.
