Merciless Eviction's flexibility makes it a strong answer to diverse threats—choose the permanent type that matters most at the moment of casting. While it costs more than efficient single-target removal and requires you to commit to one category, the ability to cleanly answer any permanent type (including planeswalkers, which few sweepers handle) gives it a home in Commander control shells and Pioneer/Modern sideboards where you need surgical precision over raw efficiency.
